PORTRAITS – Collections of the Centre Pompidou in Paris now at the Foundation Pierre Gianadda in Maritgny

The Gianadda foundation proposes an exhibition about the question of the portrait and the self-portrait, from the prestigious collections of the Pompidou Center in Paris.

The exhibition includes about sixty masterpieces of major artists of the XXth Century:

Francis Bacon, Balthus, Pierre Bonnard, Constantin Brancusi, Alexander Calder, Marc Chagall, Raoul Dufy, Jean Fautrier, Alberto Giacometti, Alexei von Jawlensky, Marie Laurencin, Henri Laurens, Fernand Léger, René Magritte, Henri Manguin, Henri Matisse, Amedeo Modigliani, Pablo Picasso, Antonio Saura, Chaïm Soutine, Suzanne Valadon, Kees van Dongen, Maurice de Vlaminck, etc.

    “La Ville-Lumière” calls to each of us, throughout our lives, where ever we may be. Thank you for bringing this example of Europe’s eclectic culture to our grateful eyes.
    My favorite is the exhausted bellhop.

  2. Now this I would like to see. It is most interesting to see the different ways artist depict essentially the same thing.
