Nax is a village with 450 inhabitants in the Val d’Herens. It is located on the north side of the Mont-Noble mountain at an elevation 1285 meters. It ist above the Rhone Valley and Sion, the capital of the Valais.
Nax is also called the balcony of heaven (balcon du ciel) for its exceptional panorama.
It has its own ski station, Télé-Mont-Noble, which is about 30 km long.
There is also a Swin golf course, cross-country skiing, snowshoe hiking routes, a via ferrata, endless hiking routes ect.
Nax will join with its neighbouring communities Mase and Vernamiège on January 1st, 2011 . It then will be called Mont-Noble, just like mountain above the village.
